  • Kyle Lowry and the bench carried the Raptors past the Wizards and into the second round

The Toronto Raptors won a franchise-record 59 games and earned the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference this season, in part, because they had the deepest, most versatile and flat-out best bench in the NBA. Entering the postseason, though, there was plenty of skepticism as to whether sticking with a full rotation would really benefit Dwane Casey’s club, since opponents shorten their benches and play their best players. Would the Raptors’ second unit still be able to make a difference playing against the other team’s best guys?

  • Kyle Lowry and the Raptors are ready to prove why they aren't the same old Raptors

Kyle Lowry left town with a smile this time. Lowry wasn’t focused on how so many of the postseason ghosts that haunt him and the Toronto Raptors were formed here, three years ago, against these Washington Wizards. The last time he was in a close-out game in the building now known as Capital One Arena, Lowry was frustrated by a bad back that contributed to an even more miserable effort and led to the Raptors getting swept out of the first round.

  • Dominance of Raptors 'bench mob' is getting ridiculous

The Toronto Raptors’ bench mob is the best of the best. The Toronto Raptors have taken the top spot in the Eastern Conference and don’t seem to be looking back. With a conference-best 43-17 record heading into Friday night’s game against Washington, they have more than just stars DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry to thank.
