  • Lonnie Walker IV settling in nicely with Spurs this summer

These are highly uncertain times for the San Antonio Spurs. This is a summer where Spurs legend Tony Parker has already left for Charlotte, where four-time NBA champion Manu Ginobili is going through what now seems like his annual contemplation of retirement and where 2014 NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard's future is most uncertain - both in terms of where he may play next and if his quadriceps injury is healed to the point where he can return to the court.

  • Report: Spurs teammates met with Leonard to seek return to lineup

Manu Ginobili's comment this week that injured All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard isn't returning to the San Antonio Spurs lineup this season appears to have been based on more than just a gut feeling. The Spurs held a players-only meeting Saturday imploring Leonard to resume playing to help the team's bid for a playoff spot, according to a report from ESPN, citing league sources, but the two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year apparently was not swayed by what reportedly was a tense and emotional dialogue. According to the report, players expressed frustration over both the effect of his absence on the Spurs' record and the longer-term implications for Leonard and the franchise.

  • Manu Ginobili skeptical, frustrated with Kawhi Leonard status: 'We fell for it a week ago'

Last week, ESPN reported that Kawhi Leonard could be ready to return to the Spurs lineup as soon as last Thursday. Speculation about Leonard’s status and health have swirled all season, and the reports pointing to his return after coach Gregg Popovich said not to expect him back on top of reports of strife with the team were cause for optimism in San Antonio. Leonard still has not played.
