  • Augustin has 25, hits winning 3, Magic beat Raptors 104-101

For the Orlando Magic, the first game of the playoffs felt a lot like the final few weeks of the regular season: high stakes, small margins, and a big win at the end of the day. D.J. Augustin scored 25 points, including the tiebreaking 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds left, and the Magic beat the Toronto Raptors 104-101 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first-round series on Saturday. Kawhi Leonard got a final shot for Toronto, but missed the rim with his 3-pointer from the top.

  • Celtics' great defense vs. Pacers in Game 1 summed up in two crazy stats

Celtics' great defense vs. Pacers in Game 1 summed up in two crazy stats originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com The Boston Celtics only scored 84 points in Game 1 of their first-round NBA playoff series against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, but it still was enough for a victory because the C's defense was fantastic. Boston held Indiana to just 74 points at TD Garden, including a 26-8 advantage in a pivotal third-quarter. The Celtics hadn't limited a team to so few points in a playoff game since the 2010 Eastern Conference finals triumph over the Orlando Magic.

  • Siakam shows he has plenty of spice left for Raptors' playoff run

Throw in Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka's battles, and this is a team that has seen it all. Pascal Siakam, though, has catapulted himself into the mix of expectations without the pillar of experience. The Orlando Magic proved in their Game 1 win that what is lacked in experience can be made up for in planning and execution, and if there are wins within the margins the Raptors can take, Siakam's night was certainly one for Toronto.

  • Kyle Lowry scores zero points in Raptors' Game 1 loss to Magic

Kyle Lowry and the Toronto Raptors entered the playoffs with a brand new slate but no one would fault you if it felt like history repeated itself again. Lowry, who has been criticized by many for his struggles during the playoffs, posted one of the worst showings of his career Saturday, failing to record a single point during the Raptors' 104-101 loss to the Orlando Magic in Game 1 of their first-round series. The veteran point guard went 0-7 from the field, and 0-6 from three-point range with the Magic providing him with plenty of open looks during the second half.

  • Charlotte Observer editorial board thinks Kemba Walker deserves better than the Hornets

Since the franchise returned to Charlotte in 2004, no player has meant more to the Charlotte Hornets, née Bobcats, than Kemba Walker. The diminutive point guard has made the franchise's only All-Star appearances since 2011 and is perhaps their only player with nationwide name recognition. But in July, Walker is set to hit free agency for the first time, which leaves the team at a crossroads.
