  • Timberwolves blast past Kings

Jeff Teague scored eight of his 20 points in a third-quarter runaway Monday night as the Minnesota Timberwolves broke open a close game with a 34-17 burst on their way to a 118-100 victory over the host Sacramento Kings. Playing for the second time without injured guard Jimmy Butler, Minnesota used balanced scoring to tip off an important three-game trip with a convincing win. The Northwest Division leaders face two of their closest division rivals, the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz, to complete the trip.

  • Jeff Teague's rough night capped off a dreadful January

In his return to Philips Arena as the Minnesota Timberwolves’ starting point guard, former Atlanta Hawk Jeff Teague had a rougher night than the fans who get humiliated by Hot Sauce at halftime. As if it wasn’t bad enough that he shot 1-for-12 from the field and tallied a scant two points, Teague went into a complete nuclear meltdown in the final minute. Down by one with just under 40 seconds remaining, Teague threw a lazy lob across the floor to Jimmy Butler, who had a defender draped all over him.  The pass was knocked down with two hands by Malcolm Delaney and the Hawks gained possession of the loose ball.

  • Damian Lillard confronted a fan in Minnesota over alleged anti-gay slurs

Damian Lillard handles himself well, as usual. Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard was already upset about how their road game ended against the Minnesota Timberwolves, telling reporters afterwards that opposing point guard Jeff Teague was “literally hugging me” before his failed game-winning shot attempt. Lillard also lamented the fact that he attempted just one free throw — on a technical foul — even though, “I attack the rim as much as anybody in this league.” The Blazers attempted just five foul shots to the Wolves’ 21 in a 108-107 loss.
