    The Minnesota Timberwolves will make hiring a new president of basketball operations their first offseason priority. The Timberwolves announced Wednesday before their final game of the season in Denver they will start an immediate search for a front office leader, with the fates of general manager Scott Layden and interim head coach Ryan Saunders yet to be decided. Tom Thibodeau, who was fired Jan. 6, held the dual role of president of basketball operations and head coach for 2+ seasons, one game short of the halfway point of his contract.

  • Report: Timberwolves to retain interim coach Saunders

    The Minnesota Timberwolves plan to offer interim coach Ryan Saunders a multiyear deal as early as this week, league sources told ESPN. Saunders, 32, is the youngest head coach in the league. He took over when Tom Thibodeau was fired in January and he has earned the endorsement of his players, most notably from All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns.

    Westbrook and George each scored 27 points and Dennis Schroder had 14 of his 21 in the fourth quarter in a 132-126 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. Schroder led a group of Thunder reserves that outscored Minnesota's second team 44-26, and he changed the game early in the fourth quarter by scoring the final 10 points in a 12-0 run that vaulted the Thunder into a 109-101 lead. He's a starter anywhere else,' George said of Schroder, who started the last two seasons in Atlanta before joining the Thunder mostly in a reserve role.

    Steve Kerr felt Kevin Durant was unfortunate to be ejected in the third quarter against the Denver Nuggets but conceded his Golden State Warriors squad need to control their tempers. Durant was penalised for two technical fouls in the Warriors' 116-102 win over the Nuggets on Tuesday, a victory that puts them in pole position to claim top seed in the Western Conference. An argument with the officials saw Durant leave the court, and Kerr believes the 10-time NBA All-Star was unfortunate not to finish the game after impressing prior to his ejection.
