  • LeBron James gets triple-double, Lakers top Pelicans 112-104

Julius Randle had 21 points in his first game back at Staples Center against the Lakers after playing four seasons with them, and Jrue Holiday had 18 points and 10 assists. Davis and James shared the court for the first time since James recently declared in an interview with ESPN that it would be "amazing" if the Lakers traded for the Pelicans' biggest star. New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry said before the game that Davis will not be traded to the Lakers or anywhere else as long as he remains under contract to the Pelicans.

  • Randle may sit out Pelicans' visit to Lakers

During the same whirlwind week last July, when four-time NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James created a roar by signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, the organization also quietly renounced their rights to Julius Randle, their former lottery pick who was the leading scorer and rebounder last season, and the only player to appear in all 82 games. Randle's return hit a bump in the road when he limped off the floor late in a 102-96 loss against the visiting Miami Heat on Sunday. He then sat out his first game of the season on Wednesday, a 123-115 loss against the Milwaukee Bucks that kicked off a four-game road trip.

  • Julius Randle reportedly agrees to two-year contract with Pelicans

Los Angeles only wanted to sign him to a one-year contract. After his breakout year — 16 points and eight rebounds a game, using his strength to bully people inside — Randle rightfully wanted more. The Lakers renounced their rights to Randle earlier on Monday (clearing the way for L.A. to sign Rajon Rondo).
