  • LeBron rallies Lakers to 111-106 victory over Rockets

LeBron James knows that he needs to turn up his intensity if the Los Angeles Lakers are going to make the playoffs. James scored 16 of his 29 points in the second half as the Lakers rallied from a 19-point deficit midway through the third quarter to defeat the Rockets 111-106. It was Los Angeles' largest comeback win of the season and its sixth when trailing by 15 or more at any point.

  • Watch Chris Paul put LeBron James in an armbar

I'm not so sure. As the two battled for a rebound on Thursday night at Staples Center, the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets stars got tangled up. LeBron's arm ended up between Paul's, and the Houston point guard seemingly knowingly jerked down on James' arm.

  • Harden extends streak, Rockets lose cool in loss to Lakers

James Harden passed Wilt Chamberlain for the second longest 30-point-plus streak in NBA history, but the Houston star fouled out in the fourth quarter and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Houston Rockets 111-106 on Thursday. Harden has now scored 30 points or more in 32 consecutive games but his early exit was followed moments later by Chris Paul's sixth foul of the game as the Rockets imploded down the stretch to hand the Lakers the win. Chamberlain previously had the second longest streak at 31 games and also holds the outright record with a streak of 65 30-point-plus games.

  • Harden: Scoring streak 'something that I just had to do because of our situation'

The Houston Rockets were a below .500 team and 13th in the West, well back in the playoff picture, when James Harden decided he had to just take over. For 31 games he has scored at least 30 points a night, tying the second-longest streak in NBA history, and in doing so pushed the Rockets up the standings — they are fifth in the West and with a greater than 99 percent chance of making the playoffs according to fivethirtyeight.com — and pushed himself to the front of the MVP race. It was what he felt he had to do, he told Rachel Nichols of ESPN in a sit-down interview for The Jump.

  • Clint Capela reportedly to return to Rockets lineup Thursday

The Rockets have gotten by without Clint Capela in the paint the past month — they have gone 9-6 without him, thanks to James Harden being a beast — but they are not the same. Capela and Harden have a connection, and in the five games before he injured his thumb and had to sit out Capela averaged 19.6 points on 59.7 percent shooting, pulling down 11.4 rebounds a game, and they were +7.6 per game with him on the court. Thursday night against the Lakers, the Rockets are expected to get him back, reports Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

  • LeBron James ready for Lakers' playoff push

LeBron James is ready to try to lead the Los Angeles Lakers into the NBA postseason, with the superstar relishing the challenge. The Lakers (28-29) entered the All-Star break three games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. But, three-time champion James – who has made 13 straight playoff appearances – said he is not panicking ahead of Thursday's clash with the Houston Rockets.

  • Chris Paul isn't attaching any extra significance to playing Rajon Rondo after spit incident: 'Move on'

If Houston Rockets guard Chris Paul holds any hard feelings against Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo after Rondo spit in his face, he's not letting it on. Paul attempted to downplay the spitting incident, telling ESPN's Tim MacMahon he “forgot about it. Paul also said once the money was taken out of his paycheck, he was ready to move on.

  • James Harden says scoring streak is 'something I have to do to give us a chance'

Houston Rockets star James Harden isn't scoring 30 points every night because he can, he's doing it because he doesn't have a choice. According to the 29-year-old Harden, his historic scoring streak hasn't continued because he's trying to break records, it's happened because it's necessary, according to ESPN. Harden told Rachel Nicols the scoring streak started because the team was hit by injuries, but he doesn't focus on the streak now that it's become a major talking point.

Starting center Clint Capela is back at practice and is expected to play Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers, barring a setback, according to multiple reports.
