  • Mike D’Antoni on Rockets’ defense: ‘I don’t see it like falling so far off. I don’t see it.’

Last season the Houston Rockets’ defense allowed 105.7 points per 100 possessions, seventh best in the NBA. It got them within a game — within a half, really, the Rockets led at half of Games 6 and 7 vs the Warriors — of reaching the NBA Finals and almost certainly bringing home a title. This season, the conventional wisdom was the Rockets would take a big step back defensively.

  • Bradley's slam helps Red Sox beat Astros 8-2 in ALCS

Jackie Bradley Jr. didn't let his demeanor change this season, even as fans begged Boston to trade him during a miserable first-half slump. Bradley belted a grand slam for his second big hit in the AL Championship Series, helping the Red Sox beat the Houston Astros 8-2 on Tuesday for a 2-1 series lead. Bradley's slam backed a solid start by Nathan Eovaldi, who hushed Houston a day after some social media smack talk from Alex Bregman.

  • NBA season preview: LeBron James' move to Los Angeles Lakers upstaged by Golden State Warriors

As far as blockbusting openings to a season go, LeBron James choosing a second exile from his Ohio homeland and riding his white horse into California to rescue the Los Angeles Lakers is as good as it gets. The Golden State Warriors did the impossible in free agency, upstaging LeBron’s arrival in LA within 24 hours of 'The King' announcing his decision. Until his injury in late January he was looking at a max deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.
