  • Gregg Popovich achieves coaching milestone in Spurs victory

    At 70 years old, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich continues to make history. With the Spurs' 101-96 victory over the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, Popovich became the all-time winningest coach in NBA history, regular and postseason combined. Popovich passed Lenny Wilkens en route to his 1,413th win as a coach for the Spurs.

    DeMar DeRozan had 18 points and 12 rebounds, Derrick White scored 16 and the San Antonio Spurs beat the host Denver Nuggets 101-96 in Game 1 of their Western Conference first-round series. LaMarcus Aldridge and Bryn Forbes scored 15 each for the seventh-seeded Spurs, who grabbed the lead early and never relinquished it. Nikola Jokic had 10 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists for a triple-double in his first playoff game for Denver.

  • Nets surprise 76ers, Golden State dominant

    The Golden State Warriors got their NBA postseason off to the exact start everyone expected them to with a 121-104 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Golden State are favourites to win this series, and while the Clippers were pesky throughout the game, the Warriors were just too much for them. Stephen Curry was fantastic with 38 points on 11-of-16 shooting including eight of 12 from three-point range, and he also managed to add 15 rebounds and seven assists for good measure.

    The Denver Nuggets ended their six-year playoff drought in style. After spending most of the season jockeying with the juggernaut Golden State Warriors for top billing in the West, the Nuggets fended off Portland and Houston to earn the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs and will face the San Antonio Spurs in the first round. Game 1 is Saturday night at the Pepsi Center, where the Nuggets posted the NBA's best home record (34-7), including a thrilling 99-95 win over Minnesota in the finale that gave them a 12-1 record on the second night of back-to-backs.
