  • After debating putting it off, Nets Spencer Dinwiddie reportedly to have thumb surgery, out 3-6 weeks

It's the kind of debate only a guy who has already signed his contract extension would consider. Brooklyn guard Spencer Dinwiddie — in the middle of a breakout season that has him in the Sixth Man of the Year discussion — tore a ligament in his thumb last Sunday night. The doctors suggested surgery, but Dinwiddie was looking for a way around it, wondering if he could play through the pain this season then get the surgery this summer.  Dinwiddie wanted to help push the Nets into the postseason.

  • Even without Dinwiddie, Nets' bench too much for Knicks

The Nets needed someone to come in and change the game, but the guy they normally turn to wasn't available. Theo Pinson, Ed Davis and Shabazz Napier carried a Nets bench that dominated the Knicks even without Spencer Dinwiddie, and Brooklyn beat New York 109-99 on Friday night for its sixth straight victory. Pinson, on a two-way contract, scored a career-high 19 points.

  • Brooklyn breakout star Spencer Dinwiddie injures hand, rumors are he may miss 4-6 weeks

Spencer Dinwiddie, Brooklyn's breakout star at point guard — they have him and former No. 2 pick D'Angelo Russell on the roster and Dinwiddie is the guy who got the extension — could be missing some time due to a thumb injury. The Nets would not confirm the details first reported by former NBA player Caron Butler (now doing Fox Sports radio), but things don't sound good. Spencer Dinwiddie is being evaluated for a right thumb injury.

  • Nets flexing muscles while Knicks in a nose-dive

When they last met on Dec. 8, the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks were in the opening stages of their current trajectories. On that night, Spencer Dinwiddie constantly reached the lane and scored 25 points in Brooklyn's 112-104 win in Madison Square Garden. It was the second win in a seven-game winning streak that turned around Brooklyn's season.

  • D'Angelo Russell drops 40 on Magic including shot that put Nets up for good

Russell tied his career best with 40 points Friday night against the Magic, including hitting the shot that put the Nets up for good on the night with 27 seconds remaining. The Nets — now 24-23 on the season and the sixth seed in the East — came from 21 back to get the win and that included their guards hitting the big shots at the end. First up was Spencer Dinwiddie.
