  • Marcus Morris scores 31, leads depleted Celtics past Pelicans 113-100

Kyrie Irving‘s shoulder wasn’t sore enough to keep him from cheering for Marcus Morris Sr. when he hit three 3-pointers to start the second half and propel Boston to a double-digit lead. Al Horford‘s injured knee didn’t keep him from leaping to his feet when Jayson Tatum drove past Anthony Davis for a dunk. With four of their regulars relegated to cheerleaders, the Celtics got a season-high 31 points from Morris and another 21 from Tatum to beat New Orleans 113-100 on Monday night for their sixth straight victory.

Marcus Morris scored 15, Jayson Tatum had 13 points and Aron Baynes finished with 10 points and nine rebounds for the Celtics, who had all five starters score in double figures and broke 100 points before the fourth quarter.

  • Boston Celtics' latest starting lineup has been their best

Despite what was arguably the Boston Celtics' most complete game at New Orleans on Monday, Brad Stevens isn't totally sold on this new starting lineup being the solution to what ails them. The starting five in Boston's 124-107 win at New Orleans on Monday included Kyrie Irving, Marcus Smart, Jayson Tatum, Marcus Morris and Al Horford.

  • Celtics cruise to win over Pelicans, remain above .500

Don't let the 124-107  win over the New Orleans Pelicans fool you. The Boston Celtics had to put in some work to get this win, the kind of work we haven't seen them put in with any kind of consistency. Whether it was Kyrie Irving hitting a jumper, Jayson Tatum attacking and finishing at the rim or Al Horford raining 3's, Boston managed to do exactly what they needed to do to not just win but remind us all why so many believed – and still do to some extent – they are one of the league's premier squads.
