  • Game 4s: Jazz look for 3-1 lead, Wolves aim to tie Rockets

Russell Westbrook is averaging a triple-double, so he gets plenty of attention. Ricky Rubio just had a triple-double , earning him some time in the headlines. Donovan Mitchell has been great in his first three playoff games, so the fascination with the rookie star is only growing. It's easy to notice those guys. Rudy Gobert should be getting noticed as well. Utah is taking a 2-1 lead into their Western Conference first-round series against Oklahoma City on Monday night, and Gobert is probably as responsible for the Jazz being in that position than anyone. He's controlling the backboards, he's changing shots, he's thwarting Westbrook and he's showing why he's the likely Defensive Player of the

  • Ricky Rubio powers Jazz past Thunder with triple-double to take 2-1 series lead

Ricky Rubio has been one of the NBA’s most exciting guards since he joined the league in 2011. Unfortunately, since he’s spent the bulk of his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves, we haven’t seen Rubio in the playoffs until this season, his first with the Utah Jazz. Rubio lit up the Vivint Smart Home Arena crowd and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday to the tune of 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a 115-102 Jazz win.

  • Jimmy Butler pays up after NBA fan sends fantasy basketball league bill

Jimmy Butler got jokes. When Jimmy Butler gave out his cell phone number during his introductory Minnesota Timberwolves press conference this past summer, NBA fan Sheldon Jack Bowen signed the All-Star wing up for his fantasy basketball league and added his number to a group text with his friends as a practical joke. Butler never texted back, never made a roster move, and therefore lost the fantasy league.

  • Paul, Green help Rockets rout Timberwolves 102-82 in Game 2

James Harden predicted Chris Paul would "come back and drop 30" after not playing his best in Houston's playoff opener. Paul had 27 points and Gerald Green came off the bench to score a playoff career-high 21 as the Rockets used a huge second quarter to cruise to a 102-82 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night that gave them a 2-0 lead in the first-round playoff series. Paul, a nine-time All-Star, scored 14 points and tied a season high with six turnovers in the first game.

  • Karl-Anthony Towns rebounds, doesn’t realize ball is live – and it leads to Timberwolves dunk

Clint Capela appeared confused even before Harden missed the second of two free throws. Karl-Anthony Towns grabbed the rebound and tried to hand the ball to the referee, who nearly took it. Towns – who I don’t think actually travelled once he corralled the ball – passed to Derrick Rose, who pushed the ball ahead.

  • Even Minnesota's governor has theory on mummified monkey

The monkey quickly had his own Twitter account, the state's governor steadfastly denied any involvement, and at least one Twitter user credited the animal's recent discovery with breaking a curse that kept the Minnesota Timberwolves out of the NBA playoffs for 14 years. The monkey was found in what used to be the flagship store for the Dayton's department store chain — which was once owned by Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton's family. "I was not responsible," Dayton deadpanned at an unrelated news conference Thursday.

  • Durant's big game leads Warriors past Thunder

Kevin Durant poured in 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Damian Jones had two key baskets in the final two minutes as the visiting Golden State Warriors outlasted the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-107 on Tuesday at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The game meant nothing to the Warriors in the big scheme of things, as they have already clinched the Pacific Division and have garnered the second seed in the Western Conference. Russell Westbrook (44 points and 16 rebounds) and Paul George did what they could to keep the Thunder close, with the two combining for 11 points in the final three minutes.

  • Rubio scores 23 as Jazz rout Timberwolves

Ricky Rubio poured in 23 points on 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc to lead five teammates in double-figure scoring as the Utah Jazz romped past the Minnesota Timberwolves 121-97 on Sunday at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. in a game with major postseason implications for both teams. The victory allowed the Jazz (44-33) to leapfrog Minnesota (44-34) into sixth place in the Western Conference standings. Donovan Mitchell added 21 points for the Jazz, with Derrick Favors scoring 16, Dante Exum and Jonas Jerebko hitting for 14 and 13 points, respectively, and Jae Crowder adding 10 points for Utah.

  • Rubio scores 23 points as Jazz beat Timberwolves, 121-97

Ricky Rubio wasn't going to miss this game. Not back in Minnesota against his former team, and not with the Utah Jazz having a chance to improve their playoff position in the packed Western Conference. Rubio, who was questionable before the game with sore left hamstring, scored 23 points and hit a season-high five 3-pointers as the Jazz beat the Timberwolves 121-97 on Sunday night.
