  • Ellington sets Heat record, Miami tops Toronto 116-109

Here were the two primary goals for the Miami Heat on the final night of the regular season: Beat the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, and get Wayne Ellington into the team record book. Ellington scored a career-high 32 points while setting Miami's single-season record for 3-pointers, and the Heat wrapped up the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs by beating the Toronto Raptors 116-109 in overtime Wednesday night. 'It's just absolutely fitting that it would come down to an overtime game with this group,' Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.

  • Miami Heat's Platinum Group nearly took advantage of the 76ers' 4th-quarter narcolepsy

The tanking portion of The Process is over, but the Philadelphia 76ers still haven’t gotten the involuntary losing out of their system. Through 36 minutes of their contest against the Miami Heat, Philadelphia maintained a 26-point lead. After another stop, Wayne Ellington raised the stakes by drilling a contested three and Ben Simmons’ inbounds pass slipped through Robert Covington’s hands.

  • Ellington finally gets his All-Star 3-point contest call

Wayne Ellington's primary role with the Miami Heat is clear: He's supposed to attempt a 3-pointer whenever possible. Ellington has already set a career-high with 153 3-pointers this season, with nearly half the season still to play. 'I wouldn't have been mad or upset if I didn't get the call,' Ellington said.

  • The Raptors got all mixed up, and Wayne Ellington and the Heat made them pay

The Raptors held an 89-88 lead over the visiting Miami Heat with 3.1 ticks remaining after a clutch drive and putback layup by All-Star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan. All they needed to do to finish off a sweep of their road-home back-to-back was lock in for that final few seconds, and keep the Heat from getting a good look at the basket. Several Toronto defenders got lost trying to weave through the pre-inbounds motion on Miami’s sideline out-of-bounds set.
