  • The Lakers are growing up together as the trade deadline looms

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Brandon Ingram was running point and staring down Carmelo Anthony defensively, rejecting Melo's shot as if he were the grizzled vet who knew what move was coming. Julius Randle was playing bully ball against an Oklahoma City Thunder team that had pushed and intimidated the Los Angeles Lakers twice this season. Brook Lopez was knocking down 3-pointers, blocking shots and even dishing assists. Rookie Josh Hart was rebounding as if he were the 7-footer on the team. Or, as I read it: The Lakers can’t find any trade deadline deals for Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson that don’t mortgage their future, so all potential suitors should increase their offers now, please.

  • Lakers run past Knicks late for 6th win in 8, 127-107

When the Los Angeles Lakers complement their up-tempo offense with solid defense, this long-struggling team actually looks pretty good. Jordan Clarkson had 29 points and 10 assists, Julius Randle added 27 points and 12 rebounds, and the Lakers beat New York 127-107 on Sunday for their sixth win in eight games. Kyle Kuzma added 15 points as the Lakers (17-29) continued a midseason surge of solid play.
