  • Thunder hope to get George back vs. Hornets

Paul George said he learned from being on the bench for the Oklahoma City Thunder's last two games. The forward, in his first year with the Thunder, is still trying to figure out where he fits into the offense, as is fellow first-year Oklahoma City forward Carmelo Anthony. George, who is suffering from a right calf contusion, hopes to be back Monday when Oklahoma City hosts Charlotte.

  • Highlights of Friday's NBA games

After trailing by as many as six points in the fourth quarter, Oklahoma City pulled to within 100-99 on a free throw by Paul George with 45 seconds to play. On the ensuing possession, Aldridge scored on a putback to push San Antonio's lead to 102-99 before the Thunder's Carmelo Anthony canned a jumper with his right foot on the three-point line with five seconds remaining to cut the lead to 102-101. Pau Gasol then hit two free throws with two seconds to play and, after a time out, Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook had to settle for a contested, wild shot at the buzzer that didn't even hit the rim.

  • Thunder bring three-game win streak to San Antonio

The new-look Oklahoma City Thunder make their first trip to the Alamo City this season to play the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, but don't expect any real revelations when the two teams clash at the AT&T Center. The Thunder, now 7-7 after waylaying Chicago 92-79 at home on Wednesday, are still trying to find the best use of their Big 3 -- reigning NBA MVP guard Russell Westbrook as well as forwards Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, the two All-Stars they acquired in the offseason. Westbrook led Oklahoma City with 21 points, five rebounds and seven assists, but didn't score until the 6:41 mark of the second quarter when he hit a 3-pointer to give the Thunder a 20-point lead.

  • Observations from Bulls-Thunder: Angry Fred, Markkanen disappearance, point guard spot is open

Grand opening, grand closing: This one was over quick in the Bulls' 101-69 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder Saturday night at the United Center. Paul George was the guy who initiated things Saturday, hitting four of five triples and toying with Paul Zipser for 20 points in 28 minutes. Carmelo Anthony hit five triples of his own to score 21, but it was clear before halftime the Bulls were not going to make this a competitive loss.
