  • What team travels the most miles in new NBA schedule? Sorry Jimmy Butler but…

Usually, it is the teams from the West Coast that end up with the heaviest travel schedules in the NBA — it’s just the nature of geography. There are a lot of teams clustered along the Eastern seaboard that are not far from each other, where in the West it was common to have a Los Angeles then Denver back-to-back and that flight is close to two-and-a-half hours. This year, however, the travel honor goes to a midwestern squad — the Minnesota Timberwolves.

  • Nuggets’ Jamal Murray says it’s “kind of nerve wracking” being in NBA trade rumors

NBA veterans have adapted to their name popping up in trade rumors. Enter Jamal Murray. After a solid rookie season with the Nuggets (remember he was the Rising Stars Challenge MVP), this summer Murray’s name came up in potential trades for Jimmy Butler and still for Kyrie Irving.

  • Projected 2017-18 records and standings for every NBA team

Who is the biggest threat to the Golden State Warriors? Just how heated will the competition be for playoff spots in the Western Conference, and are there eight playoff-caliber teams in the East? To help answer these questions and more, here's an early look at 2017-18 NBA projections using ESPN's real plus-minus (RPM). Last season, these projections correctly forecast that the Houston Rockets would have home-court advantage in the first round, the Denver Nuggets would challenge .500 and the New York Knicks would stay in the lottery. (They also missed on other teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks' playoff run and the Detroit Pistons' falling out of the postseason.) As in past seasons, I've put

  • Thunder Announces 2017 Preseason Schedule

    – In preparation for its 10th season, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced its complete 2017 preseason schedule today. Oklahoma City will play four preseason games, including two at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The Thunder tips off its 10th preseason on Oct. 3 versus the Houston Rockets in Tulsa at the BOK Center. The club will head back to Oklahoma City for two contests, starting on Oct. 6 when it hosts the New Orleans Pelicans. The NBL’s Melbourne United comes to Chesapeake Energy Arena on Oct. 8, which marks the third time the Thunder has played host to an international team in OKC. The preseason concludes with a trip to face the Denver Nuggets on Oct. 10. All preseason games can be heard on the

  • Rumor: Nuggets won’t trade Jamal Murray and Gary Harris for Kyrie Irving

The Cavaliers and Nuggets seemingly share a mutual belief, accurate or not, that the Pacers backed out of a three-way trade that would have included Paul George and Kevin Love. Could Cleveland (which is still bitter about the missed opportunity) and Denver (which should be thrilled it signed Paul Millsap outright rather than trading assets for Love) connect on a trade that actually happens? The Nuggets are a logical destination for Kyrie Irving, who has requested a trade.

  • NBA Notes: Michael Jordan fires back at LaVar Ball

Michael Jordan finally issued his response to LaVar Ball's bravado. "I don't think he could beat me if I was one-legged," Jordan said. Ball, the outspoken father of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, previously said he would beat Jordan in a game of 1-on-1 back in his prime. Jordan, a six-time NBA champion and considered by many the greatest player ever, had held his tongue on a response -- at least for a while. BayAreaHQ.com posted a video Monday of Jordan talking to campers at his summer youth basketball camp in Santa Barbara, California. "You've got to understand the source," Jordan said when asked about Ball. "He played, I think, college. ... maybe? He averaged 2.2 points per game. Really?"

  • Hornets unveil Jordan Brand uniforms

A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that the Denver Nuggets have hired former Minnesota Timberwolves executive Calvin Booth as an assistant GM. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Nuggets have not announced the move yet. Booth has quietly emerged as a respected evaluator of talent during his time with the Timberwolves. Four of those seasons were with the Washington Wizards while Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly was working there.

  • Russell Westbrook skips Drew League game with super-max extension still unsigned

James Harden and Chris Paul provided a sneak peek of their partnership in the Drew League on Sunday. Watch the highlights above. But the Rockets stars’ expected opponent, Russell Westbrook, didn’t show. Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News: I was surprised Westbrook planned to play, considering he still had a super-max extension – projected to be worth $207 million over five years – still on the table from the Thunder. Most player would finalize that deal before risking injury in a game, even an exhibition. Was Westbrook’s planned participation a sign he’ll pass on the extension? Does him skipping the game indicate he will sign it? He can get the same contract terms in free agency next summer.
