  • Mavericks F Nowitzki dealing with balky knee

Dirk Nowitzki is less than three months away from his 40th birthday and has missed just one game all season. Nowitzki is dealing with tendinitis in his left knee that has hampered his recent performances, and how the knee feels Tuesday will determine if he plays against the Kings. "Dirk is a little banged up, but I think he's going to be OK," coach Rick Carlisle told reporters.

  • Rick Carlisle issues nonsensical response to question about Dennis Smith Jr.

Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle’s disdain for reporters is well-documented. Carlisle continued fanning those flames on Friday by offering a subversive response to The Orange County Register’s Lakers beat writer, Bill Oram. Oram asked Carlisle for his thoughts on Pat Forde and Pete Thamel’s Yahoo report indicating that Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. accepted an illicit $43,000 payment from an agent while he was still an amateur.

  • Mavericks look to turn things around against visiting Heat

The latest downturn for the Dallas Mavericks has followed an all-too-familiar script. "I liked a lot of what I saw in the game," Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said of the 91-89 loss. The Mavs (16-34) play their last home game at American Airlines Center for nearly two weeks with the Miami Heat (28-21) coming to town Monday night.

  • Watch Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle tell his own player to "get the f--- out of here"

On Monday, tensions were once again high, this time in a game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Washington Wizards. During the Mavericks 98-75 drubbing of Washington, Wizards guard John Wall and Mavs guard J.J. Barea had an on-court confrontation in the fourth quarter that led to a war of words in the postgame, with Wall calling Barea a "little midget trying to get mad" and Barea responding by saying that none of Wall's teammates like him.

  • Mavs slow recent slide with season sweep of Wizards, 98-75

Dennis Smith Jr. scored his first points on a 360-degree dunk before the rookie Dallas guard focused more on the bigger task: trying to slow the high-scoring Washington duo of Bradley Beal and John Wall. The Mavericks did that Monday night, holding the Wizards guards to 28 percent shooting in a 98-75 victory that completed a two-game season sweep of the Eastern Conference playoff contenders while easing Dallas' slide back toward to the bottom in the West. Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle didn't want to give his players too much credit, though.
