  • The Most Important Player On The Celtics Isn’t Who You Think

A lot of things have to break just right for a team like the Boston Celtics to be this good. After losing Gordon Hayward to injury in the first game of the season and starting 0-2, the Celtics have run off 14 straight wins — including a win Thursday over the reigning champion Golden State Warriors — on the strength of a suffocating defense and surprising contributions from young players like Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. But while Boston’s success on defense has been a collective effort, the other side of the ball has in large part been buoyed by a single player. It just may not be the one you think. Kyrie Irving makes the Boston offense go. He leads the team in scoring, assists and usage percentage.

  • Sorting through the biggest surprises in the Eastern Conference: the Cavs, Celtics, Pistons, Sixers and more

What many assumed about the Eastern Conference this season hasn't quite come to fruition so far. The Boston Celtics, despite losing Gordon Hayward on opening night, look even better than they did last year when they earned the No. 1 seed in the East and reached the conference finals. A big determinant in whether the Celtics can keep this up - they are an NBA-best 13-2 - will be the play of young swingmen Jaylen Brown (14.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg) and Jayson Tatum (14.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg).

  • Warriors next up to try to stop Celtics' 13-game win streak

The Celtics like the kind of basketball they've been playing during their 13-game win streak. Boston's prospects for the season took an obvious hit following Gordon Hayward's gruesome leg injury on opening night, but the Celtics have exceeded expectations thus far without him, becoming the first team in NBA history to win 13 straight after starting the season 0-2. Kyrie Irving has been a scoring force, while Jaylen Brown and rookie Jayson Tatum have taken advantage of their increased roles.

  • Plucky 13: Kyrie overcomes mask, Nets to help keep win streak alive

NEW YORK -- The fans at the Barclays Center, most of whom were sporting green jerseys and T-shirts, had already serenaded Kyrie Irving with an MVP chant during fourth-quarter free throws. But the loudest cheers for the visiting squad were reserved for a sequence in the final minute when Jaylen Brown zipped an alley-oop lob to Jayson Tatum for an emphatic slam. Irving overcame frustration with his new protective mask to score a game-high 25 points, while Brown and Tatum paired up for 32 points as the Celtics won their 13th straight game with a 109-102 triumph over the host Nets. The streaking Celtics will host the defending champion Warriors on Thursday night at TD Garden. In the aftermath of
