  • Banged-up Celtics riding Horford vs. Bucks

    When the Celtics signed Gordon Hayward to a huge free-agent contract and traded for Kyrie Irving in the offseason, they created what was supposed to be Boston's new Big Three, along with holdover Al Horford. Hayward was lost for the season with a gruesome leg injury in the first quarter of the first game of the season. Irving was eventually lost for the year, also because of injury.

Al Horford had 24 points and 12 rebounds and Boston overcame Khris Middleton's long 3 that beat the fourth-quarter buzzer, topping the Milwaukee Bucks 113-107 in overtime Sunday to open the playoffs. The Celtics led 99-96 with 0.5 seconds left in regulation when Middleton took an inbounds pass on the far right wing and hit a contested 35-footer.

    The Celtics beat the Bucks 113-107 in overtime in Game 1 of a first-round series on Sunday, but not before an insane back-and-forth-and-back-again sequence at the end of regulation. With Boston up 96-93 thanks to a pair of Al Horford free throws, Milwaukee set up a side inbounds play with 15 seconds left. Giannis Antetokounmpo drove down the middle, as if preparing to take a quick two, before dishing to Malcolm Brogdon, who hit a game-tying three-pointer with 11.1 seconds left.
