  • NBA Bucks to be guided by ex-Hawks coach Budenholzer

    Mike Budenholzer, who spent the past five seasons as coach of the Atlanta Hawks, was named Thursday as the new coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, the NBA club announced. The 48-year-old American guided the Hawks to a 213-197 record since the start of the 2013-14 campaign and four playoff berths. Budenholzer coached the Hawks to a team-record 60 wins in the 2014-15 season and a berth in the Eastern Conference final, winning NBA Coach of the Year honors.

    Mike Budenholzer and the Milwaukee Bucks have reached an agreement to make him the franchise's next head coach, according to multiple reports. ESPN reported on Tuesday that Budenholzer, the front-runner for the job, and San Antonio Spurs assistant Ettore Messina, the other finalist, were meeting with ownership in a second round of interviews. Budenholzer met over breakfast with Bucks forwards Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton on Wednesday morning before the team extended a formal offer, according to ESPN.
